It is Time to Start Living the Life that We’ve Imagined

So, I am reading this book by Jack Canfield, you know the co-author of those Chicken Soup for the Soul books. This book, The Success Principles, How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, it is almost 500 pages of practical, noteworthy applicable principles to govern your life by in order to obtain the goals that you set for yourself.

Some of the concepts are so simple that they are easily overlooked and seen as obvious behavior, yet most of us still are not applying them our daily lives. Really, what good is the obvious to us if we are not going to apply it to our day-to-day living! I read this book and found that the wealth of information is so vast, it is challenging for me to digest it all. Well, at least enough for me to really apply the teaching to my daily life. As when anything else, you have to practice in order to get proficient at something and make it a productive habit. So my thought is that I would write about each principle by way of this blog. My writing about my interpretetation of these principles will work to serve 3 purposes.
1. to break down each lession in order to obtain a richer, deeper understanding of each principle for myself
2. to enlighten you, the reader
3. to share this wealth of knowledge with as many women as possible

I love self-discovery and further self-development. Discovering is only as good as how well we implement what we have uncovered. So, my committment over the next few weeks, months and years is to put into action what I am learning on my journey.

I will put into practice all techniques and principles that will move me toward my authentic self and live out my Divine purpose, everday.

I will set up a weekly webinar for those who would like to discuss, process and expound on some of the principles taught in the book. May we all gain a more profound understanding by listening to the voice of other’s and their perspectives. I am excited! My hope is that you make the commitment to go along on this journey with me and the women of Ten Faces of She.

Ten Faces of She women are EVOLVING EMPOWERED EXCEPTIONAL & REVOLUTIONARY!

Motivation – What does it Really mean?

Definitions:

  • the internal condition that activates behavior and gives it direction; and energizes and directs goal-oriented behavior. …en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motivation
  • give somebody incentive: to give somebody a reason or incentive to do something
  • make somebody willing: to make somebody feel enthusiastic, interested, and committed to something

Motivation has become a highly publicized term most recently. Particularly with the down turn of the economy and exorbitant unemployment rates, common everyday people are looking for motivation to move them forward in these challenging times. More importantly they are looking for ways to maintain the level of motivation needed to change their lives for better.

Motivational tools, articles and books are in high demand as well motivational speakers, coaches and trainers. I happened to be one of them so I am in the mix of this driving force to get Americans up and mobile when they are experiencing tough times.

The first step in getting motivated is to decide what you want most in life. You may have to do some meditation, sit still with yourself and dig deep to really uncover your intrinsic need. Once you have an understanding of your real needs you will be able to formulate your desire. Obtaining your desire is necessary to become motivated to achieve it.

Nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose–
a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.

Mary Shelley

There is no greater way to ensure that you will remain motivated than to be driven to obtain a goal that is important to you. If you have a strong desire to reach a specific outcome you are more likely to stay motivated to go through the necessary steps to accomplish the required tasks.

Here is a list of the top 10 tips to be steadfast and remain motivated:

  1. Conceive, meditate and uncover what it is that you desire. Assess if it is really worth your time and effort that it will take to obtain.
  2. Formalize your goal on paper. Write it on a vision board or in a journal.
  3. Think about your goal everyday, associate positive thoughts to it.
  4. Visualize that you have achieved your goal. Imagine what that feels like. Block everything else that does fit in with this vision, including negative people that discourage you from pursuing your dream.
  5. Become knowledgeable about your goal, research every aspect of your goal. Read articles, books and view videos where possible.
  6. Surround yourself with people that have already accomplished your goal. Study their journey, learn from their mistakes and use their success as a road map to your success.
  7. Stay focused on the benefits and positive impact achieving this goal will have on your life, your family and the world.
  8. Let yourself feel the excitement of achieving the goal. Refer back to this level of joy regularly.
  9. Celebrate small success that are moving you in the direction of goal achievement. Small accomplishments in increments lead to greater achievements. So be patient.
  10. Use affirmations to claim your victory and success several times per day. ” I will maintain my desire and inner strength to achieve this goal.”

It is a challenge sometimes to remain motivated so you must work diligently to maintain focus and a clear vision of  your end result. Please watch this video with Will Smith who exemplifies motivation and being steadfast.

The Power of Your Mind

It is important that you understand just how much power your mind has.  Literally, your mind defines and shapes your future. Knowing this now, I bet you will pay closer attention to what you have on your mind. I would think that you would be particular about what you allow to pass through your mind.

Take a moment and reflect on all of things that you thought about this week. How many of those things were non-productive or negative? How many of those thoughts served no real purpose and did not move you toward what you want? If you experienced negative thoughts then you really worked against yourself.

When you think about your future are your thoughts constructive and supportive of your goals?  When you envision your future are your thoughts predominately positive and motivating? Or are your thoughts negative filled with insecurity and failure?

Everyone thinks differently. Each of us think and focus on various things. As a result we all act and behave differently. In the end, we all find ourselves in different situations and have varied experiences. If you use the power of your mind wisely, you will think and focus on positive, productive things. As a result you will behave and carry out productive actions. In the end you will find yourself in positive situations and enjoying rich productive experiences.

Creative visualization refers to the practice of seeking to alter your outer world by changing your thoughts. Creative visualization begins with your conscious desire followed by the process of visualizing your goal and further your achievement of the goal in the present tense. For example, I use creative visualization to envision my holistic center that I am going to build and own. I put all of my energy and movement into moving me toward this goal. I do not associate any negative or doubting thoughts on this end result (and I don’t allow anyone else to either!)

Creative visualization is the technique of using your imagination to visualize specific behaviors or events occurring in your life. In this process you are creating a detailed schema of what you desire; then visualizing it over and over again. During your visualization you are also applying all of your senses (i.e., what do you see? what do you feel? what do you hear? what does it smell like?) In my visualization of my holistic center I see the building with the different floors for each discipline.  I can feel the spirit of positivity, joy and inspiration. In my ear rings of clients moving all about the center.as I indulge my nose in the smell of essential oils. In my mind, this is an actual scene awaiting realization.

Creative visualization is the key to success!

Creative visualization is very different from just your average daydreaming. Creative visualization is performed in the first person and equally as important in the present tense – as if the visualized scene were occurring right now. Daydreaming however, is thought of  in the third person and the future tense.  The you in the daydream is like a character that you are watching from a distance.

So, stop just daydreaming and begin the practice  of Creative visualization. You can sit back and let your unconscious thoughts continue to impact your life negativity without any control; or you can make the conscious choice to partner with the power of your mind in order to achieve success and joy in your life. Creative visualization can actually be the key the door of abundance and your optimum life! Why not use it?

Your success can be achieved, put it in your thoughts, your thinking will manifest your habits and actions. As a result your experiences and situations will be both  affirmative and productive.
